Bushfire in Carramar WA
Well just drove around Banksia Grove, some streets are closed, helicopter parked in the middle of our small little park, cops everywhere and view from my back yard is one of smoke....
Spoke to a cop who stopped my car, he said not to worry BUT that they are here until danger passes, and everyone is hoping the wind doesn't change as that would not be very good for us...

Scary innit !!
Never lived that close to a bush fire, but as we are in the bush, its a very worrying thought !
Have seen plenty, from a distance, and wanna keep it that way !!
Hope everything is ok

Yes scary, has been close quite few times, with fires around Joondalup Drive etc. Things ok now, saw 4 helicopters flying around 3 hrs ago, they seemed so close, carrying what looked like water, about 2hrs the smoke reduced alot, now can't see smoke anymore, thankfully!
Plus few minutes ago it was raining a bit, so that must be good news for the firies! I'm just happy that our next door neighbour has a flagpole, we could easily monitor where the wind was coming from just by looking at his flag!
One way to start a new year isn't it! 9th one here, 4th with close calls with bushfires.... that's Oz for u, depends where you live I suppose!

we to saw the fire it was very close, the helicopters flying very low over our garden, they were landing on the playing feild at carramar primary school for re-fueling, there were quite a few down there watching them land and take off again (oh and kids included) but very glad its all under control now

We just got back from a barbie just round the corner. There were cops and Channel 7 News parked up but it was all over very quickly. It only got so much attention as there were a few hobby farms etc a few metres away.
Tis funny how this sort of stuff brushes over us so easily these days.

Normally would've just thought, no worries, one of those again... but having sirens going around your house, within metres, police everywhere for several hours, blocking roads etc, sure changed it for me. If they are worried, I was worried. Fair enough, recent events at Great Eastern Highway might effect their reaction to bush fires but still.
Glad though it seems to have settled now.
