Monday 2 March 2015 - 3:20 PM
A bushfire ADVICE remains for people in the The Spectacles and western part of Anketell, in an area bounded by McLaughlan Road, Anketell Road, Battersby Road and Thomas Road, in the City of Kwinana.

There is no threat to lives or homes but there is smoke in the area.
Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
The fire started in The Spectacles north of Thomas Road. It was burning on both sides of the Kwinana Freeway, between Thomas Road and Anketell Road.

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:
The bushfire is stationary.
It is contained and under control, but there are active hotspots in the area which are producing smoke.

WHAT TO DO:
Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
Read through your bushfire survival plan.
If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.
Be extremely careful driving through the area.
Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.

ROAD CLOSURES:
No roads are closed.

Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site.

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
Four Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters are on the scene.
Firefighters are patrolling the area and extinguishing hot spots and flare-ups.

EXTRA INFORMATION:
The incident was reported at 11.09am on 24 February.
150 hectares have been burnt.
The cause is a flare-up of a previous fire in the area.
The fire is being jointly managed by the City of Kwinana, Department of Parks and Wildlife and DFES.

KEEP UP TO DATE:
