travelling from Langkawi to Phi Phi

Can anyone out there tell me the best way to get from Langkawi to Phi Phi. Is it best to go by boat (and taxi or bus) via Satun and Krabi or is there some easier route? Are there any special visa requirements getting from Malaysia to Thailand? If I were to hire a taxi for this route is there anything of particular interest en-route.

Yes, vis Saturn and Trang, then regular buses to Krabi and then boat across. There used to be flights to Phuket but they only lasted a short while. Using 737's for what was just on a 26 minute hop was not viable. Do be aware though is rainy season now. The only other alternative is to fly back south to KL and then fly to Phuket and road/boat from there.
