Default Terrible floods in Iran

Plenty of photos, if you Google "floods Iran". Half the whole country is affected - as far south as Shiraz. My wife and I have wonderfully fond memories of the people, from when we backpacked through it in the 1960s, so we feel for the children and grandchildren of the folk who were kind to us.

And for anybody interested in what Iran was like "back in the day", before it became a theocracy, here is a link to photos taken around the time we were there. The poor old Iranians have had a rough trot. Their attempt to establish a democracy in the '50s was killed off by the British and American governments. Before and after that event, there was an absolute monarch installed by those nations. The only force strong enough to overthrow the monarch, eventually, was a bunch of religious fanatics. Who still rule, sad to say. Now the same two evil governments are looking to slaughter the poor bloody Iranians yet again. Sigh...

Having devastated Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Libya, our leaders now want to give Iran the same treatment ?

That's OK, shivpatil. The people of Iran have many, many friends in the West. We're not all mindless warmongers!
