Default Sri Lanka anyone?

I am looking for information on a possible re-location to Sri Lanka. Any information, experiences or links to websites will be appreciated.
Thanks.

In answer to the topic title....yes please. I've never been there but I hear that it is lovely.

If you go to the India sub forum on here, you'll find a few posts and also a sticky topic re the retirement visa. Yes we do know that Sri Lanka is not part of India but it's just that there are a few topics in there.

Thanks BB and I will have a look. I know south India very well and I have been to Sri Lanka many times. However, I am now considering SR as a place to live, as India itself is far too problematic for us Brits. Only thinking about it at this stage, but I am quite interested to know how to go about it.

I'd like any info with regards to how ex pats or retirees find living there. Only been there once and that visit wasn't long enough to formulate a definite opinion outside of wanting to return and stay longer.

A UN worker told me that Sri Lanka has extensive human rights violations especially towards Tamils and foreign workers. White vans will drive around, kidnap anyone who they feel might be bothersome to the establishment, and then that person disappears permanently unless a huge ransom is paid. I've heard a few stories of Westerners being tortured to the point of permanent dysfunction.
