new police trick
Yesterday I drove to Boncafe (Phuket)for my weekly bags of Moka beans.
Just outside was a large police road side money making operation in full swing; about 20 police with a table set up with chairs and invoice books for issuing receipts.
A 300 baht fine for no helmet
A 300 bht fine for no seat belt
300 for no licence etc etc
I always wear seat belt, but to get my coffee I needed to go in the shop, so had to take it off .
Came out with coffee, not wearing belt.
Got in car........put on belt.......drove back through police .........."STOP
you not wearing belt.......I see you.....go to table pay money"
So after speaking nicely to senior officer he agreed I pay only 100 baht.
Moral............Wear your belt when you go shopping!!!
and it's no good arguing.
