KLIA or Subang?!

Hi,

Have been offered a job with Malaysia's flag carrier.

I have the choice of working at their Subang facility (at the old airport) or at KLIA.

Is there any advantages of living near the new airport, apart from easy access to work and travel?

I guess a new town has grown around KLIA. is it dead or is that unfair?

Subang at first thought, seems the obvious choice. Does anyone have any recommendations for a district or condo near the old airport?

in fact, knowing Kl as you may do, does one really need to live close to their place of work in KL? Is subang easy to get to? Should I consider other areas that at first glance, don't seem ideal for a daily commute to Subang?

I used to live in Singapore & BKK and miss Asia like mad. I don't need clean streets and posh malls. I need good food, good condo facilites (do some condo's have BBQ pits in KL?), easy access to the metro and a decent fitness centre.

I really can't wait to return!

Any info would be gratefully recieved. Any heads-up That you kindly provide may save me alot of time and possible head-banging in the near future (although I accept I cannot avoid the later!).

Cheers!

Talk is that living in Putrajaya or Cyberjaya, the residential areas out there, is not recommended. Too boring. There seems to be a monthly discounted ticket for the KLIA Expres off Sentral for KLIA employees. http://www.i-putra.com.my/minisite/transport_train.html
Accommodation option there usually comes down to Robson Condo at Sentral from RM 2500. http://www.iproperty.com.my/property...rd=askingprice

I'm a bit out of depth here, but the U81 should get you to Terminal 2 Subang.

This though is probably not doable on a daily basis. Maybe someone else who actually works at Subang, can help you further.

I would go for Subang. There are some good condos nearby and you will be close to Subang Jaya, Bangsar, Petaling Jaya and KL itself, where there is adequate shopping and plenty of life. The downside is the traffic and getting through the jams. But I can tell you there is nothing at KLIA apart from the airport and you are going to curl up with boredom if you live around there.

thanks for that,

my heart has decided to go for subang.

although i'd probably have an easier life at work in klia, i love asia cities, which leaves me only one choice.

i believe my emplyer can provide a temporary condo somewhere near subang. best way for me to settle in, do my homework and find the right home.

got the official offer today, so i'm feeling pretty pleased with myself.

i miss asia alot, gets under you skin like a drug doesn't it?

roti chennai, ikan bari, mee soto and otak otak here we come!

thanks for your input people.

An update if i may.

We have negotiated a months stay in a condo nearby to Subang airport.

I'm pretty confident this will be enough time to at least have somewhere of our liking secured.

My wife is Thai, In Singapore we stayed at a fun condo called Singature Park.
Alot of other young Thai/western couples stayed there. Many a good time was had by the pool, cooking, eating and chilling out.

Would anyone know of any similar condos in KL within 30 minutes car commuting time from Subang airport?

Cheers
