Frozen UK Pensions
Petition
Please sign this new e-petition.
There is a new petition on the UK PMs website created by a Derek
Richards, who has emigrated to New Zealand, and is appealing for support
against freezing of his pension. It only has 66 signatures at present,
I'm sure everyone would like to add their support. You can find
the petition at the following web address.
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Pensionless/
You fill in your name and address and email. If you do not live in the UK you select the drop down box and identify yourself as an expatriate.
The e-petition site will send you an email. You must then click on the link
to confirm that you wish to be listed as a signatory.
You can only use your email address once, but you can include two names on
the signature line.
Please ask as many people as possible to add their support. This may not affect you now but it may in time to come.

I have signed the petition - but the same applies to Malaysia - which is in the Commonwealth. It is just ridiculous. More power to your elbow!

Re: Frozen UK Pensions
The point is we had no option but pay National Insurance it was and is compulsorary but it seems that the Government can opt out of paying it at will.
Supposing everyone said that they could not afford to live in their adopted country anymore and returned to the UK what would the cost be to the UK Government in resources be then! They would have to pay full pensions, NHS, housing, care homes, home helps, and many other services which I am sure would amount to more than paying uprated pensions.

Many thanks for signing. Unfortunately it applies to more countries than people realise.

Hope others sign up: There have been other Petitions I have signed up to ---- and eventually you get some politically correct statement non-reply in reply :-( .... At least though we've tried!
Best wishes -

EXACTLY! - but that is too intelligent thinking for politicians attempting to squeeze every cent from not only taxpayers but for those who have made provision for their futures. They are nearly imploding as it is on housing, Medical Care, demands on Services from all the EEC "immigrants" that have come here - but that's OK to them - despite these people never having contributed anything to the state coffers. The high cost of living in UK is chasing me out (and weather and food) as well as so called Public Services, Politicians, etc, ....oooh will stop now....starting to rant!

This only refer to State Pensions. Private pension arrangements are not affected by this.

Re: Frozen UK Pensions
I know -- but it is ridiculous - we have paid our Natinal Insurance Contributions all our working lives - and then if we retire abroad (even to the Commonwealth) they stop the increases. One of the reasons Brits want to retire abroad is the exhobitant cost of living increases (on top of the grey weather and grey food!). A bottle of coke (I buy it for my nephews and nieces) can cost up to RM8 per bottle in the UK - dependent on where you shop.

Re: Frozen UK Pensions
You people are naieve!! You say that you have paid NIC all your working lives and expect a full pension based on that. Quite simply you did not pay enough!!
The NI fund in the govenment is not allocated to pensions but is allocated to the current account to pay for everything. Pensions are paid from that - from current income to the Govt. There is no pension fund and you are competing for resources with the health service, defence and social security. You may not like it but tough - it is just one of many harsh realities of life.
You complain that if you all went back to the UK then it would cost the Government more than increasing your pension. So your suggestion is the opposite - increase your pension and you'll stay away. Can you imagine what the electorate would say about that - preferential treatment to non-tax payers?
Your future is your problem - the Govt can only do so much.

Re: Frozen UK Pensions
I don't think people are after preferential treatment, just parity with UK residents as their State Pensions are increased annually.
The actual amount payable will be based on years of contributions. You can request a forecast from HMRC.

Re: Frozen UK Pensions
Do get your fact right for goodness sake! Many people living overseas are paying UK tax on savings and other investments which generates income in the UK.
The government took the money under false pretences. If you paid into an insurance policy you would expect to receive the full benefits on maturity why should what you are compulsorarily made to pay into by the government be any different.
Quite simply you did not pay enough!! I'm bloody glad I didn't pay more that's for sure!

In my work I knew of staff who were claiming Incapacity Benefit - and working full time. When the new Company took over and went "Legal" - they all left and went to celebrate the end of an era on holiday in Mexico! Mexico!! I had been working and paying a mortgage and the magic NICs for nearly 20 years and could not afford a holiday in Mexico!
"Ask not what your Country can do for you - but what you can do for your Country". There is about a third of the population who never have and never will contribute anything to the UK or it's Society. In fact just the opposite! Even Beveridge said that 3m required to be unemployed for the system to work - exponentially adust that figure today - and you get 5m.
That is what the UK Taxpayer is VERY angry about - and the money wasted on Domes, Olympics, and all the other piss-it-against the wall wheezes that this Socialist Government comes up with. Those that can (e.g. those who have contributed financially all their lives to the Country) are leaving now at the rate of 350 per day to ensure their futures - because, god help us, the UK won't.
The freezing of the State Pension is yet another example of those who have made provision for the future being penalised. Even Social Workers agree with that remark!
Social Security is abused, the NHS is abused (even by those that run it!) and, the Military are definitely abused in the lack of facilities, weapons, living accommodation, press and political garbage they suffer and they go and fight and die for their Country. QED >>> what you put in you can never expect to be returned - even the food and weather is ghastly ! :curse:
BTW: You can not escape UK capital gains tax or inheritance tax when you go abroad. You may have some tax advantages being non-resident ---- but the UK Tax Man gets you in the end!
The whingey lefties have helped Black Gordon shoot himself in the foot on non-Doms. The UK economy will lose billions by their anticipated departure (just so the lefties feel the rich are being penalised) - Let's hope the Greek Shipping Magnates drop anchor in Malaysia - EVERYONE there will benefit. Freezing the State Pension is just another way of "getting at" those whom the Socialists assume to be "rich".

Re: Frozen UK Pensions
NOT NAIVE - FACTUALLY REALISITC and KNOWLEDGEABLE> We've paid in full - but the ones who have not paid full Tax and NICs all their working lives, who make living off Social Security a way of Life, who "over-use" the NHS, etc, etc ad infinitum, are the ones we are fed up subsidising. There is no Cap on NICs now - so the more you earn, the more tax you pay, the more NICs you pay - and most of it goes to supporting the "helpless, feckless and hopeless" (a quote from a reknowed Glaswegian Lawyer who defends the Criminal Fraternity, Social Security Scroungers, etc) - he knows his own kind!.

Going to Malaysia or unable to go to Malaysia - much better choice in my view - Malaysia is lovely and have a good time.
You are right about the spelling - same mistake twice too - so it is not a typo. I stand corrected.
