Where should I go?

Hi all,

I'm currently based in Qatar and my employment contract is coming to an end. I'm looking to relocate to Europe although I haven't made a definitive decision on any one country.

I'm married (no children, yet) and my wife is a non-EU passport holder so I will require somewhere that will allow my wife to join me in the fastest possible time.

I'm looking for somewhere that has a high standard of living, good job prospects for english speakers (until I learn the native language) and is quite safe in regards to raising a family.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks :)

Your post seems to suggest that you are an EU passport holder, in which case, with the proper documentation, your wife can join you, and indeed work, anywhere within the EU.

Well, I guess it depends on your qualification. I don't think that there is any country where you will have good job prospects if you don't speak the native language well unless you are an expert in a specialized area. We just had American IT-consultants in our company for example, but would never hire somebody permanently who doesn't speak German. Of course, there are big, multi-national companies in Germany who hire non-Germans speakers from time to time. That might be a possibility.
