As a US citizen, I have a strong interest to acquire a citizenship in the EU. I've been reading that Ireland and Italy are options. Ireland seems like a good choice for me, because English is my only language, I'm a software engineer, and Ireland will be the silicon valley of the EU.

What are all my options, assuming I don't intend to put my US citizenship at risk?


Rich Wales- if you're reading this forum I'd also like your opinion.. I just finished reading your comprehensive faq, and I'm enticed.. I just want to know the bottom line. Where can I get my dual citizenship without too many worries?

I think my European ancesters probably go more than 4 generations back, so I'm assuming I'm left with naturalization at this point.
