Vote for best New Years Eve place/city in Europe
So, me & my partner are traveling Europe this year. Right up to the New Year. With so many locations to pick from. We discussed about New Years Eve somewhere. But where!
So far it's a toss between Budapest, Amsterdam or Berlin. Done Budapest (love it) & Amsterdam so know the cities. & we've read up on suggestions.
Any thoughts or ideas from experience. As you can see these places aren't close to each other so from that you'll guess its an open market. Vote now, add a suggestion...
Many thanks

I've moved your thread over to the General Europe Forum...as I think you will get a better response in this forum.

Re: Vote for best New Years Eve place/city in Europe
I spent last NYE in Berlin and the one before in Budapest.
Budapest is a relatively low-key affair. The bars are busy and there are lots of people around and at midnight locals are setting off fireworks, but there is no big display.
Berlin, on the other hand is party-central and the sheer volume of fireworks transforms it into somewhere resembling a war zone. EVERYBODY lets of fireworks, and I mean big ones, all over the city from dusk until dawn the next day. There is no regard at all for safety and grown men will happily lob fireworks into crowds. It is not for the faint-hearted.
The streets are packed, there is a party atmosphere and there are huge fireworks over Brandenburg Gate at midnight. If you like it lively, busy and VERY noisy then Berlin is the place but if you.

Cheers rammy100. Berlin sounds crackers! I like the idea of running away from fireworks allday haha. Have you been anywhere else over NYE in Europe worth a shout?
I'll be in the continent rather than the good old British Isles Mikelincs. Thanks though. I would like to be try Edinburgh on year.

Yes Berlin is crackers. We were warned by friends who leave every year as they hate it but we thought pah! it's only a few fireworks. It's not. It's mental and I like fireworks.
Have previously spent NY with friends in the UK so no, can't help otherwise. Just so happened I spent the last 2 years in places you mentioned. Bud was ok but I was at a private party but it's a good-value place to be compared with other cities.
I imagine Prague would be good although I plan on being in the Canaries this year!
