Visiting Frankfurt

I am going to Frankfurt in 2 weeks time. Regrading my research, Frankfurt is a commerical city, not really good for tourist. Is that true? Are there any pleces i have to see in Frankfurt? Thanks

I am also visiting Vienna, Zurich and Prague. Are there any places i can not miss? please suggest.

Re: Visiting Frankfurt

Frankfurt itself is not the most attractive spot in Germany, in my opinion. Lots of
industry and modern high rises, although I am sure it has its attractive districts.
But there are lots of good areas nearby - in practically every direction, and the
excellent train service from Frankfurt makes a day trip to many of these spots very
easy. Driving conditions are also excellent.

A few easy options:

1) the Rhine Valley between Koblenz and Bingen; touristy in season, but lots nice
scenery and good wine - we like the town of Bacharach (named after the Roman god
of wine) along this part of the river. Trains take you easily from Frankfurt.
There are also river boats available between Bingen and Koblenz, running about
every hour along this part of the river and stopping at most of the towns for
reasonble rates.

2) Wurzburg to the southeast: lovely old center with some magnificent architecture.

3) Wertheim to the southeast: smaller town with a nice old center, relatively
unspoiled by tourists.

There are many others, depending on your taste and desires.

Best, Andrew

I'd recommend the cathedral, St Stephens, in Vienna.
