UK Passport renewal

Has anyone on here recently had to renew a UK passport? And how long did it take?

Did it all online. Very good service about 2 - 3 weeks. Expensive but efficient, keep informed at all times of process , new one courier to door

Did you have to send a colour copy of your non-US passport? I have no idea where I am going to get a colour copy from at the moment. I can only do black and white

Thank you all! Sounds like it's not going to be to much of a trauma.

Dual nationality does require a color photocopy of your passport, every page.

Guys, trying to renew my child's passport but running into a major problem here.

After going to the official gov't website for passport renewal, stating that I am overseas (among other options)... it starts the online process without giving me the option of doing things the old way.

Problem is that the online process requires online identity confirmation, which in turn requires that the person doing the confirming be resident in the UK. Turns out none of my mates fit the list of professions (while those that do happen to live outside the UK, lol).

From your experience do they definitely only allow UK residents (not just citizens) to confirm? If so, how do I go about doing things the old way?

I assume you have a UK passport yourself ? If so don't understand the problem, my son in Australia has both passports for my grandchildren online in the last 12 months or so. See if this link gives more information

Yes I do. How is that even pertinent? It actually seems completely irrelevant...

Same with the link.

A Commonwealth or US citizen can confirm the identity, irrespective of where they live, and other professions are accepted too.

Pulaski, I'm strictly asking about the online confirmation option.

On the official gov't website it is stated that only UK/Irish citizens can do this and on top of that only UK residents are allowed. So is a US citizen, non-UK resident, really going to work here? Because hey, I've got WAY more friends in the US so that would be a godsend.

OK, dead end then, no useful advice here but just wasting people's time without actually reading the original question in the first place...
