TV sets
Hi
First post on here so hope it works !
We are shortly moving to Portugal and want to know if our tv can be modified to work over there. Our thinking is we should be able to use it with the sky system. Is that right? (Green to all this sorry.)

Re: TV sets
you know what signal they broadcast? I can't remember, but somewhere one of the articles on this site has a list of all the signals, so worth a search to see if it's PAL, if it ain't, it ain't worth converting the tele, be cheaper to buy a new one.
if you don't want to watch normal tele off the airwaves, and use sat or cable or whatever they have, they should work fine using the av sockets.
and welcome to the site

Re: TV sets
just googled, anyway, Portugal use PAL, but basically slightly different, so with the antennae, you'll be able to pick up the video, but not the sound...so would have to use something that's fed in the AV sockets like satellite, cable, or perhaps through a video player, don't know on that score though.

It is a very new set, and it did set us back £2,400, so we're reluctant to dispense with it!

Make sure your sky card is still registered at an english address, english bank account and keep quiet from sky about it and all should be fine.
