Travelling with nearly expired passport, returning with expired passport
 

Hi,

I have just booked a return flight from Birmingham,U.K. to Munich. However, I have just realised 3 days into the trip I my passport will expire and the return date is 2 days after this.

Does anyone have any experience of firstly travelling with only several days validity left on their passport and secondly leaving Germany, re-entering the UK on an expired one? Many thanks in advance for any advice.

You'll be able to fly to Germany but you're unlikely to be allowed to fly back to the UK. I would look into renewing your passport before you fly and use the fast track/premium service as necessary.
