Default No More BBC Radio 4 for ex-pats!

Unless you are living in France or Benelux you may no longer be able to listen to Radio 4 and BBC7 radio on satellite from the end of May this year.

This is because of the split with Sky: together with the BBC TV channels (which will not be scrambled -- that's the good news) all the domestic radio channels (i.e. Radios 1 - 7) will be moved to a new satellite (Astra 2D) which is in the same place in the sky but whose "footprint" basically excludes most of Europe (and that's the bad news).

The BBC has so far refused to make any public statements about this but people who've contacted them privately have been told to start getting used to listening to Radio 4 etc. on the internet.

Anybody who feels strongly about this may like to send an e-mail to feedback:

[email protected]

or contact anybody who might be in a position to get a stay of execution.

The address of the chairman of the governors is:

[email protected]

Greg Dyke's address could be:

[email protected]
