Angry Motorcycle Insurance

Please could you tell me if you know of anyone who can provide insurance for a motorcycle which is carried on the back of a motorhome for a six month trip to Europe. So far have been unable to find an insurance company which will cover it for more than 90 days.

Thank you in advance.

Why don't you get one when you get to Europe? Insurance isn't compulsory until you
actually use the motorbike.

Hi Tracie,

Where are you from and what kind of coverage are you looking for?

I go over to Europe every summer to ride and I get my insurance at the ADAC, the
German auto club.

I only get my insurance for one month, but I think you can get it for up to six
months. I am talking about Green Card liability insurance only. I can't comment on
full coverage other than it is difficult to get if you don't live there. The
insurance for one month costs me Euro
22.

All the best, Alex

Hi Alex - thanks for your interest. I am from England and all I need is to be legal really. I didn't realise that you could get insurance from another country. Is there any more information you can give?

Thanks
Tracie

I think I would prefer to have the bike insured in case of theft, if nothing else until I get to Europe. I didn't realise that you could buy insurance abroad.

ok question, now that green card, is it issued to you because you already hold a policy in the uk? I'm trying to locate insurance for the republic of ireland at rates that aren't gonna screw me (currently paying €3300 for an RVF400) ouch.

Any help on getting insurance from a different country would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Ye it's a load of wank, the Irish fukers have it all locked up so that you can't get insurance in a different country and have cover here.
The EU told are minister for finance to get rid of VRT (vehicle registration tax) which is basically a load of money you have to pay on top of a bike if you import it, but what does he do? he increases it the bastard. My re-newal quote is €3600, thas with 1yrs no claims, full license, living in the country!
