Does anyone know if it is OK just to take domestic applicances bought in the UK e.g.. TV's, dishwashers, fridges, radios, etc. etc... over to Belgium or Luxembourg and just change the plug. I have a horrible feeling that if I do this nothing will work or worse I'll kill myself trying !

I'm about to move to Luxembourg and would very much like to know.

Yes. All of Europe uses 230 V nominally. There is no difference except the plug. Make
sure you get earthed plugs where appropriate.

I see a problem with your TV. Unless it's multistandard, you'll have no sound in
continental Europe. UK uses PAL-I NICAM stereo, Lux uses PAL-B/G A2 stereo. It is
possible to have that changed by a workshop, but unless the TV is dear to you
probably not worth it, because the replacement part and work hours are going to cost
more than a cheap new TV.

Regards
