Hello from Greece
Hello,
New to the site and Greece.
Surprised there isn't a Sub Forum for Greece, I was under the impression there are a good number of British Expats here.
Anyone here living in Greece, Athens?

You know, and I know, that there are a ton of British expats in Greece.. but not many of them seem to post here.
Too busy enjoying themselves outdoors?
What are you doing in Athens & how are you liking it?
We lived on Rodos, but moved to the US in 2004. I miss kite flying day and the wonderful Spring there.. happy Spring!

Yeah, I wonder why that is, even joined "meet in athens" and still waiting from a sign of life from them. Anyhoo, will keep trying.
We moved out here as my partner is Greek. Having been visiting Greece for a
while and I love it out here so no problems. Can't stand the smoking though!
I work as a real estate consultant, following my experience in UK. So if you know someone interested in buying/selling etc do let know me.
Looking forward to Easter, Roast lamb on the spit (yummy)
How are you finding the US, which state and what took you there?

Re: Hello from Greece
Hi,
I was wondering if you can recommend a nice quiet Greek island to take a short break, say in September. My Texan OH and I are thinking of taking a short break when she returns from Dallas, come August. Kefalonia has been recommended. Neither she nor I have visited Greece, although I have been to Cyprus.
This question is a little off thread, I know, but hey, I assume you know Greece, so I'm prying ... ...

Re: Hello from Greece
Hi Britex01,
As you know there are many islands in Greece, each with its own character.
From the few I have been to so far, I would recommend Spetses.
However, my Greek friends have recommended I visit Santorini and Corfu, so you might want to consider them too.
Regards

As you say, so many islands. We'll look into those places to glean some info.

Doesn't look too far from Athens. I'd like to take my TX OH there. She holds a keen interest in European history.

Re: Hello from Greece
Been to Greece sixteen times on holiday. Kefalonia is special with amazing scenery (have you watched Captain Corellis Mandolin?): Zakynthos is lovely too but more commercialised: Skiathos is my personal favourite, especially as the lovely Skopolos is only a short boat ride away. I found Crete, Rhodes, Mykonos to be a little too hot and breezy in mid-summer. Each to his own. If its your first and only time, why not stay in Athens as the beautiful islands of Aegina, Hydra, Poros and Spetse are all only a few hours away. You must visit Delphi too.

Late September is the earliest we can hope to get away, but I understand the weather is still very good in Greece at that time of year.
Thanks for your input, Lionheart. Appreciated ...
