Going to Paris, I want to visit Juno Beach.

I am going to be in Paris in mid-December, and want to visit Juno Beach (Courseulles-sur-mer). I was woundering if there is a bus from Caen to Courseullees-sur-mer. If so, how do i get ahold of the scedule?

I would appreciate any suggestions (help).

Thanks,

Scott

I'm sure thi shas been discussed quite a few times here already

If I look at www.gotoparis.net/gotoparis/daytrip1.htm I see that they offer a landing
beach tour at a $175 per person.

Now, I think that if you rent a car you'll be much cheaper off and have a lot more
flexibility as well.

I doubt if a tour bus would take you exactly where you want to go or give you the
amount of time you would like to spend at this particular beach. Best would be to
either rent a car in Paris and drive, or take the train to Caen and rent a car there.
Easy to drive around in Normandy and find your way.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I'll look into renting a car in Caen.

I have no bus info for you but a few weeks ago I trained into Caen, picked up a car
across the street and had no problems driving around the Normandy area. I was in
Courseulles Sur Mer on June 6, for the anniversary of the D-Day Invasion. I strongly
recommend you drive as there is much to see in the area. A bus wouldn't work if you
plan on seeing the different beaches, cemeteries and interesting historical sites.
Wear your flag proudly, the French do.

There is also a big WW2 museum in Caen. I would recommend a car to tour. You should
go to the various sites along the beaches and to the American Cemetary.

There is a Juno Beach association, which is building the June Beach Centre at
Courseulles-sur-Mer, http://www.junobeach.org/, which has info you might like to
check out. For general info, this is the beach the 3rd Canadian Division landed on,
with British commandos in support.

If there on D-day anniversery, take a bus tour out of Bayeux. That way you do not
have to worry about the parking and closed roads, and you get a tour guide. There are
buses available, but if in December, I would probably drive or hire a guide for the
day. Hiring a car and driver / guide may not be that much more expensive than a
rental car. Bill
