Airlines are not in a hurry to tell you about your legal rights. I have just made a claim for 400 Euros beccause my flight from Faro to Glasgow was delayed. Levelks of compensation for flights are regulated by the EU.

How long was your flight delayed? Ours (from Toulouse to Lisbon just before Christmas) was delayed for a little less than 3 hours which wasn't long enough to claim compensation. The companies will apparently reimburse refreshments after a 2 hours' delay, but you have to ask for a receipt for what you actually pay for in the aircraft before they'll reimburse. And, of course, I missed out because I didn't know....

We recently claimed for a trip from Orlando to Manchester. They just crept in under the 4-hour mark so we got 300 Euros each.

The delay is timed on the arrival time, not departure time. In our case, they were just over 4 hours departing but picked up some time to arrive just under 4 hours late.

I put my case in the hands of one of the many companies that specialise in making claims. They take 25% on a "No Win. No Fee" basis.

Hi DMU,
Had that been before Christmas the year previously we could have been on the same flight TLS-LIS. Despite the delay, hope you enjoyed the holiday, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on Lisbon (suggest by PM not to completely derange this thread). We had a marvelllous time - a very highly recommended destination!
Cheers, TP

Have duly pm'd you, but forgot to say that the outward flight was with Ryanair (so no real surprize at the delay), and we came back with TAP (no problems whatsoever).
