Default bus companies

I decided to take a bus from Lisbon to Seville. What is a good company to go with? I have not found much info on the internet about bus companies and schedules. Any one out there that has any info on bus companies?

As mentioned in your other thread, the train via Madrid is probably the most
'comfortable' method of travelling buy public transport between Lisbon and Sevilla.
However, there must be a means to get to Seville by public bus - surely. There is a
new motorway A49 built from Seville though Huelva and near to the bridge linking with
Spain. I am sure that this road will see more and more through traffic between the
Algarve in Southern Portugal and Andalucia.

There are two Portuguese bus companies that may be of help :

REDE NACIONAL EXPRESS http://www.re-
de-expressos.pt/index_uk.htm
which runs frequent services between Lisbon and
Faro in the Algarve. The timetable lists quite a few at cost of EUROS 14.50.

There is also the EVA bus company from Lisbon to Faro and also shows a route to Vila
Real de San Antonio. This town is on the River Guadiana which is the Spanish border.
Last time I was their, you had to cross to Spain on a ferry ! Now there is a new
bridge which links up the new motorways between Sevilla and the Algarve. On the EVA
timetable, there are 4 busses from Lisbon to Vila Real
http://www.eva-bus.com/ One at 08.15 arriving at
13,30, next at 10.30 arriving at 15.45, next at 15.15 arr. 20.30 and last at 18.30
arr.23.45. Cost is 14 Euros which is not too bad !

Then you need to get from Vila Real to Seville. This is where I am leaving
it. Someone else may know the bus times from Ayamonte (which is the Spanish town
across the river ) to Seville. You may need to go to Huelva Town first and
change for Seville. Huelva is the 'province' and many busses will go into Huelva
bus station automatically.

Maybe look for Huelva Bus information on the net ?? Or ask Seville tourist people for
bus times to Ayamonte?

Good luck !!

I just happened upon the local bus company in HUELVA province :
http://www.damas-sa.es/index.htm

DAMAS seem to run frequent buses from Ayamonte to Huelva, and also very frequent ones
from Huelva to Sevilla. There are also some direct services from Ayamonte to Sevilla.
(these busses will probably go via Huelva bus station but you could stay on the bus)
- Just look at the ZONA DE BUSQUEDA .

if you are travelling light, then am sure this journey is quite alright and would be
inexpensive. Total bus cost from Lisbon to Sevilla should be around 20 EUROS (maybe a
bit more).

http://www.eva-bus.com/altaq.htm for
Lisbon-> Faro buses. I seriously doubt that there are buses from Faro to Seville
though. Transportation between Spain and Portugal is very inefficient . Just that two
cities are near , even if they are major cities, doesn't mean that there is a
rail/bus link between them.

It's me again ! I see that DAMAS advertise a Direct bus from Ayamonte to Sevilla
which goes along the A49 (this is the newish motorway that links Sevilla with
Portugal ) This bus leaves at 8 PM. This appears to be the favourite although there
are earlier buses from Ayamonte. The bus should get you into Sevilla before midnight
which is just when the city is busy !

As I can read out from Th.Cook timetable this connection seem to be real troublesome.
dep. Lisboa (ferry) 08:10 train dep Lisboa-Barreiro 08:55 arr Faro 13:25 bus dep
Faro 16:15 (weekdays only) arr Huelva 19:45 bus dep Huelva 20:00 arr
Sevilla 21:30 Perhaps an interesting route but hardly convenient.

That is good ! but from Lisboa to Merida then Merida to Sevilla would be quickest
route looking at the map ? HOWEVER on www.alsa.es
there is bus time for Lisboa - Sevilla ! (International) It says there is a bus
leaving at 07.00 from Lisboa which arrives at Sevilla at 15.00 and cost is stated as
EUROS 32 - this appears to be the only 'direct' bus on their timetable. Otherwise
you can get a bus to Merida and then get another from Merida to Sevilla.

OK, actually the same web site shows a direct Lisbon - Seville route.

Yep. Lisbon -> Sevilla for 32€.

Actually Alsa is one of the most important bus companies in the world. They have
routes even in China!

Lol...it is. I doubt the poster of that advice has ever actually made that trip. It
is hellish ;-)
