Hi and welcome back.

Good luck with the research but given your son's condition would it be better to stay put in the UK?

Welcome back. The Welcome Inn is for new members to introduce themselves...therefore I will move your thread over to the Europe forum as it will be easier for you to move within the EU community. We also have forums covering Australia, NZ, Asia and many more.

Have you thought about Hungary? Maybe the thermal spas would help your son? Property is very reasonable, the climate is dry and warm. I have no personal experience of the healthcare but have heard that it is good but some of the buildings need modernising. All I know is that when I visit the spas here you see many people who are there for medicinal purposes and seem to be using them for relieving pain etc. it may be worth you doing some research into the approaches used here for arthritis.

Montenegro sounds and looks good, but there are many issues. Check Visa requirements after 90 days etc. Services are poor and property is expensive when you look what you get for your money. There's a shortage of tap water and many other environmental issues.

Do you have to live in Europe? There are places in Central America that meet your criteria. Do you have to work for a living, in the English language?

OP, on Europe & the warmer climate. Taking into consideration you are a a UK citizen, factor in most of the points of

- Safety

- healthcare

- cost of living

- lowest in bureaucracy

- communication (language) is this a primary consideration?

- least amount of aggro for every day living

Read the Malta & Portugal threads, leave out Spain & Greece as well as France because the cold damp winters wont work.

A short read, simple, not too comlicated

Re: back and in search of warmer climates

What was the issue with Bulgaria?
I have always found the health service there very good (private but very cheap and good) and they use a lot of herbal treatments for some things. Also have the spa's everywhere and can get stays in these on health service. I know one of the spa resorts close to us was meant to be very good for arthritis.
Weather can get cold in winter, so would avoid north Bulgaria for that reason and concentrate on somewhere further south.
