Back-Packing Through Europe

I was thinking about back-packing through Europe over the summer with a group of friends. What do you exactly do? Any suggestions of what's fun to do in Germany?

Get hold of some "Lonely Planet" guides, they will give you plenty of info, might find them at your local WH Smith, if not do a search under google.
