I`ve lived in Greece for 14yrs now..., and have to agree the best thing to do is rent, in the begining, and later once you find your place to settle down and buy some where..

See if you like the place during the winter months, as some areas can be very quiet, and lots of places close over the winter time..

Pay some visits to your area befor you commit.. to buying a house there, find out as much about your area as possible..

Learn some Greek..

Join clubs, make friends with others in the area..
They can give you the real idea on whats happening there..

I`m not trying to put you off, or anything... I love living in Greece.

HI,
I am thinking of moving to greece for a year, i am looking to move to the epidavros area, is there anyone out there how has lived there who could tell me about cost of living etc.
