On this website there is a fantastic article explaining what you can and can't do under an ESTA in the US ( I would put the link here but Im not allowed to yet ). Does anyone know of a similar, comprehensive and clear, article for Switzerland, and the EU (I realise that they are connected bu different!). Thanks!

Hi, welcome to BE.
Are you a UK citizen or do you have an EU passport? Your answers will vary depending on that, as Brexit has scuppered a lot of things for Brits with regards to working in the EU.
If you're a Brit, I don't think will be a blanket rule for the EU, as each country sets their own rules for non-EU citizens, and I'd imagine you can work in any of them without a work permit now. So you may need to look at each country individually, and go to the official source for each. Here's Switzerland's to get you started - https://www.ch.ch/en/foreign-nationa.../#uk-nationals
Good luck.

Thank you - good to be here: I am a UK citizen with a UK passport.
The Swiss link is interesting, thank you. It's slightly clearer than the many I have read so far! It seems to suggest the need simply to notify the canton, as long as within 90 days.
As you say, that's different from other nations ...
