accomodation and general advice for the Liguria region
Hi,
We are thinking of taking about a 4 day break to visit the Liguria region (from San Remo to Monterosso al Mare) in Italy and were hoping that some of you out there might be able to advise us on places to stay, to see, and to eat in!
Our budget is in the B&B range and we like a rustic style as opposed to trendy places
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
S.

I asked my friend from Genoa when I began planning and she recommended
Camogli. There's good website exposure, so look it up. It has great access
to Genoa, where there is much to see, and a boat access to Portofino and a
monastery which can also be reached on foot. I have since heard from many
travelers that Camogli is a gem.

Re: accomodation and general advice for the Liguria region
Hi Judith,
Thanks a mill for the Camogli suggestion. I checked out some websites and it really does sound beautiful. Worth a visit for sure.
I did a good bit of searching for accomodation in that general area and I found many listings, but unfortunately I didn't find any personal reviews from people who have visited the area recently.
Actually I read on a few sites that one can rent a private room in a house and the way to go about this is to just arrive in the town and ask at a local pub if someone in the area has a room to let for a few days. I don't speak Italian at all and so I would be very unsure about doing this!
I also read that it's possible to stay at a monastery!? I wonder how that works for a couple?
If anyone out there has some first hand experience of the Liguria region or Camogli in particular and could advise me on where to stay that would be a great help!!
Also what are the general views on going there by train vs by car (we're based in Nice, France and so it's only over the border for us).
Thanks,
S.
