What Skills Assessment should I apply for?
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help with some advice concerning my skills assessment. I've had a bit of a mixed career, so much so that I'm really not sure which route or skill to apply under?
Here's my background...
1989 - 1993: I did a 3 year formal Electrical Maintenance and Installation apprenticeship in a factory whilst studying for BTEC qualifications. Then straight after that I did a year in a Building Services dept doing Electrical Design work (up to 11KV), CAD Design, planning etc
1993 - 2002: I did a full time Electronics degree followed by various Tech Support Engineer roles (no sparkying though)
2002 - date: Have worked in various Technical Sales roles (mostly IT / CAD Software related)
I'm fairly sure that as my apprenticeship was so long ago (and that I have limited post apprenticeship experience) that I couldn't use my trade for the skills assessment. Is this the case?
That being so, does anybody know what paths/jobs are open to someone with the above skills in the Electrical field in Australia? and what the best route is to apply for a skills assessment?
I'm keen to get back into Engineering or something technical if and when I get to Australia so it would be handy to be able to use my training and qualifications as one.
Hope you can help, thanks in advance.
