Just to let you know we have been advised today by Energy Safe Victoria that they are no longer accepting South Australian licences granted after the Peer Course as equivilant to Vic Licence and will not grant an A Class licence until you do the Victorian Assessment

Heard that all this is due to the guy who wrongly connected a smart meter.he was a overseas worker who had gone through peer to gain his SA license,before changing it over to a victorian one.Heard ESV arnt happy with the exchange program.

yes youve posted links to the mutual recognition scheme and whist that is the law it isnt enforced so you can post links all you want but your not going to win

in reality i would say 8 out of 10 qld electrical contractors would not employ some one without a qld licence, yet according to the mutaual recognition aggrement signed and ratified by all states, strictly speaking that would be illegal ? but it happens day in day out

now the victoria licencing dept is refusing to accept peer gained licences
( also qld licencing have been know to do the same ) at the end of the day it was only ever a short cut that we highlighted on this forum about 4 years ago as a way to use the system at the time to gain a licence in the quickest manner, this route has now been seen to be porblematic wih vic and qld so ll i`ll be advising people not to bother with the peer route any more

lets move on and discuss the merits of licening state by state

this might be a good idea for a brand new thread that could be used as reference for new posters

Hiya yes we have that

What I am saying is that if you already have an SA licence done through Peer and you wish to apply under mutual recognition for a Victorian Licence they will now not accept this and you have to do the courses here anyway so now a waste of time going to Peer if you live in Victoria

Heres a question. How would they know that you went though PEER? For all they know you may have lived there for a while.

Because now they are asking for copies of all your certificates and the Wiring Rules Certificate has Peer Veet on it.

Also applied to WA cos we are thinking of moving there - got that one no problem
