Default UK or Australia Training?

Having recently got into PLCs I plan to take a course and ultimately gain a qualification, question is if I do this in the UK will the qualification count/carry any weight in Australia or would I be best advised to wait until I`m there?

I had also considered doing an High Voltage course too, would this be the same?

If the qualifications are recognised I could get on with them now while my Visa is progressing and hopefully have them by the time I arrive

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Having jumped through a lot of hoops and being in the process of jumping through the rest the 'feeling' i get is that you would be better off doing the courses in Australia. A manufacturers PLC course will apply anywhere but with anything college based i think you will struggle to get the true recognition and benfit that your efforts deserve.

Just my feelings on this, based on how i see the system.

Hi rinkerdink

You have just confirmed what I suspected, strangely I had just found a college course that lead to an Edexcel qualification but as you say if it aint recognised whats the point

It would have suited me to have got it here, could have had it while going through the Visa process so I could hit the ground running in Australia and it would most likely have cost less too

Are you involved with PLCs or similar? If so do you have to take the course in Australia to get recognised?

Cheers

There are plenty of jobs advertised for guys with PLC experience, from what I have seen they have asked for 'a' grade electricians with PLC experience.

Have a look on seek.com and look at the jobs advertised, also i would compare the costs of the courses uk v oz and if you have got the time to do it before you arrive I would just to help with getting a job quicker
