Default Recently Qualified Electrician...What are my chances of getting a job/visa?

Hi guys,

Im a recently qualified electrian (as in a few weeks ago). Im a 23 year old time served apprentice with 4 years electrical experience.

Since qualifying my company has offered me 1 month rolling contracts which has prompted the idea of a drastic change in my life.

Do i realistically stand any chance of getting into australia with my age and recent qualifications?

Thanks,

Russ

Just been looking it all up. Looks like the 176 visa would be the one for me. Does that sound correct?

What's the situation with bringing my longterm girlfriend with me? Shes just an administrative assistant so not on the required skills list. Are we able to get joint visas?

Im reading so much information but it all seems so complex at the minute. I think i need to just keep reading in the hope that the more i read the more it unraveles itself.

Thanks for your help,

Russ

You are in the exact same situation I was in 3 years ago, a sparkie aswell!

I got her in on defacto as she was unskilled. Basically you have to prove that you are a real couple by providing proof of your realationship. You have 2 options get married and theres no questions asked or live together for 1 year, keep the joint lease with both your names on it. Open joint bank accounts, insurance policies, Keep your documents from any holidays you had away together, valentines cards and photos of you together. Anything that has both your names on it really, thats how i did it anyway and it worked but Its a shit load of hassel believe me.

It took nearly 2.5 years for us to get all the proof together and actually recieve the visas, and would you believe it she got cold feet and wanted to stay with her family:curse:
That was the end of that, im still heading over next week to melbourne

If your in Ireland here is the name of the company that processed my application from start to finish. They are very good and cheap. Under 2k euro for the whole thing. AUSTRALIAN MIGRATION & VISA LAWYERS

That was a really helpfull reply Paul. Thanks for that.

Unfortunately we both still live at home due to me being on an apprentice wage ive had little choice in the issue. Weve been together since we were 17ish. Had plenty of holidays together, unfortunately with this only being a recent thought we dont have any invoices or documents saved. Shes got plenty of photos of us though lol. Shes also been on my car insurance for 12months or so.

Sair does have relitives in Queensland...unfortunately Queensland arent looking for sparkies so i dont think thats of any benefit to us.

Im from mainland england, but maybe the company you used could still help us. Cant believe she got cold feet on you so late on in the process. Must make emigrating even harder for you now your going alone? Not sure if i could do that if im honest. Hats of to you.

Have you got employment lined up for you when you get there or are you job hunting on arrival?

If she has direct relations that are citizens anywhere in aussie she can get in on her own as far as I know. Its defo worth looking into and it will be alot quicker than taking the defacto route.

Here is that crowds office in the UK. http://www.australianmigrations.com....cialistsUK.asp

Give them a call, explain your situation and they'll fill you in.
That insurance policy and those photos might just do for yous if you take the defacto route.
Check your emails for any travel itinerys you might have recieved with both your names on it aswell.

No I have no job lined up yet. Its hard to find work without having the australian A Class electrical licence so my first port of call will be to study and sit the exames for it. Ill hopefully get labouring or trades assistant work in the meantime.

I was in aussie for a year backpacking and loved the place so I was always gonna go back over. Only reason I left in the first place was to get her a visa! If I was to stay at home with her I'd always be thinking 'what could of been if i went to oz'
