Question Read Me - A Grade license in Aus

I have just gone through the process of getting my a grade license in WA having started the process when i arrived in February. I sat the ARTC and then the short theory exam from the regulator in WA. I am happy to offer any help or guidance on the WA process if I can
I am now working at an RTO in Perth and can provide some help on courses available for migrant electricians.

Hi, oh just getting started on the same road as you. Have you managed to find work whilst all the license applications are being sorted?
Thanks

Hi, would you be able to shed some light on this confusing subject. What do we need to do first for licence. We should be in Perth end Feb 09. Is there anything we should be doing this end?

Can OH work before licence obtained?

Thanks in advance.

Steph.

Im in the same boat as that, it seems PEER is now out of the question for the Vetts people so an alternative would be to enrol in a level 3 TAFE course within your state.
The cost of a level 3 course at a NSW TAFE was around $680AUD
This was the reply i got from a NSW TAFE......

Dear Jonathan,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Following is the course to study to qualify for the A Grade Electricians Licence :

* Course 9968 Electrical Wiring - Certificate III (NRT) -

Course details can be obtained here: https://www.tafensw.edu.au/howex/ser...&CourseNo=9968

Course brochure can be obtained here: https://www.tafensw.edu.au/howex/ser...68&versionNo=1

This course may be updated in 2009.

Best to clarify any inquiries with a TAFE NSW Electrical Trade Teacher at your nearest campus, once you arrive in Australia.

Following is information regarding TAFE NSW Fees:

https://www.tafensw.edu.au/about/money.htm

I hope this information is of assistance.

Regards

jonsparx;

if you intebd to do the level 3 course then i would be contacting PEER they also do this course you may be able to do the lot in a block course its worth a try,
level 3 is a decent level of electrical engineering consider this people doing level 4 are then able to teach in Taffe.???

Its a pre migration skills assessment for UK sparkies. Bit like being back at college again only a shit load more expensive. Loads of info on this forum about it.
