Default qualified electrician... am i doing this all wrong!?

Hello, new to the site, apologies if you have already answered these questions before.

Ok, here's my situation, im 24 (fully qualified electrician) and at the start of the year i (probably follishly) sold my electrical contractors business and im currently coming to the end of my back packing adventure around Southeast Asia. Ive a great 6 months seeing the world (or part of it), but on the 1st June 2009 i arrive in Sydney and things start getting serious. Im going to look for an Electrical job in the domestic and commerical areas and hopefully start to think about emigrating and furthing my career in Oz. I have a working visa (valid for 6 more months), but now im learning about all these tests and qualififcations i need before i even start looking for work. I know i should have researched this, but the feedback in the UK was i could easily find work in Oz and then sort out whatever papers or qulifications etc later, which sounded good to me. Is this true, am i now just dreaming that i can find a job and then sort everything later!?
So ive heard about this TRA test, but just wondering whats involved with the practical test, i think the theory is about the regulations in Oz, is that true?
Finally i am just wondering if anybody would like to tell me what its like working as a spark in Australia, is it much different from England!? I mean it cant be to different, can it!?

Thanx for reading, i hope someone can give me a convidence boost and help me out.

Gareth

Sorry, i do have a 12 month working holiday visa, but my trip was supposed to be for a year and ive spent half of it in Asia, which leaves me with 6 months in Oz before i go back to England (unfortunately).
