Getting work
Hey all,
Been here two months now sent loads of applications away and getting no response, i am still working on getting the A grade but have been trying to get a trades assistant position to tide me over. Has anyone else had the same experiences, am i looking in the right places lol, any tips would be appreciated

Hi Craig,
It's not easy is it. I would also try applying for electrician roles that are advertised direct and not through an agency as you are less likely to be screened out. Nothing you can do but keep plugging away - they don't make decisions quickly in a lot of cases either.

Have you tried posting in the jobs wanted section?
Has anyone looked over your resume to see if it fits the Australian style. Adelaide has skilled migrant services, the advisor there looked mine over and edited it a bit - as did a friend. Worth checking maybe.
What type of work do you normally do? If it's domestic / commercial installs, maybe have a tour around your area and ask at building sites. Could also try making friends down at the local elec wholesalers - they often know who needs a helping hand.
