How to get a licence in South Australia
Apply for your ARTC certificate either before you arrive in Australia, (you will need an Australian address for them to send the results to), or as soon as you get here. The form can be downloaded from http://www.workplace.gov.au/NR/rdonl...ck9Oct2007.pdf
(Note: You do not need the ARTC certificate to book or attend the Peer course in South Australia.) Book yourself on a course with PEER training (www.peer.com.au) and buy yourself the following books. http://www.saiglobal.com/shop/Script/Details.asp?DocN=AS678036347050 http://www.saiglobal.com/shop/Script/Details.asp?DocN=stds000017409 http://www.saiglobal.com/shop/Script/Details.asp?DocN=AS12820832AASS http://www.saiglobal.com/shop/Script/Details.asp?DocN=AS778112015227 (Note: If you keep your receipts for the books and the course, you can claim them back against your taxable income providing you claim them in the same tax year as you buy them) At Peer, you will be given a booklet to fill in. It will ask you to find the relevant section of the wiring rules to answer the question. This book can be filled in either at the training centre or at home, so really it’s up to you how long it will take to fill in. Once you have completed this you will then be able to take your exam, which is basically the same thing – filling in the relevant regulations. It usually takes anything from 2 – 4 weeks to get to the exam stage (well they have to look as if they are at least trying :D). Once you have done your exam and passed, (impossible to fail, as they will tell you to amend things if they aren’t right), you will get a certificate to say you have completed the wiring rules course. You then take this and your ARTC certificate, which should have arrived by now) to the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs (OCBA) in Adelaide CBD. You will need to also fill in this form: http://www.ocba.sa.gov.au/assets/files/form1a_pge_indiv_ptship_07web.pdf and pay the fee ($338 currently, again keep the receipt as you can claim it back ;)) They will send you a letter asking you to have a photo done at various places (usually transport offices), once you have done that it will take approximately 10 to 14 days to receive your licence and away you go. |

Re: How to get a licence in South Australia
I tried to start one up about NSW Wendy, but no one has replied!
I am getting nervous about my ARTC, I sent it off two weeks ago. Do they take about a month to process it? |

When we applied I e-mailled them after 4 weeks and they told me that 'they had 20 working days to process them, and as it was only day 18 they were in the timeframe - however we can tell you that your application has been sucessful' :D So I'd say 20 working days from them receiving it and if you haven't heard by then ring or e-mail them ;) |

Hi Steve
i have a question to ask you regarding the ARTC. I had applied about a month ago and yesterday i contacted to TRA about the outcome and they said that they have meeting with local trade committee LTC in the week end and than they can tell the outcome. so do have any idea about this situation. is this the normal procedure or in which circumstances they contact LTC. |

Yes, this is the normal procedure. The Local Trades Comittee are the ones that decide if you have provided enough evidence to support your claims or not :) |
