Help with A grade exam in WA
Hi everyone i am writing this on behalf of my husband, he has already sat the pratical exam and failed on 2 parts, he new he would fail them as he has no knowledge of these areas, he is an installation spark working mainly on colleges hospitals, basically anythin industrial. any way can any of you lovely people give him any tips an these 2 areas:-
1) Appliance testing (he has never done this before)
2) DOL starter
he has researched the internet and got books from the library but still doesnt feel confident at all, he resits these 2 parts on friday so any help, info, how to bloody wire these things would be greatly appreciated and would reduce the stress levels

1st he must check the cord for wear,
2nd check the cord grip to ensure it is holding the cable securley
3RD Check the plug top to ensure the wires are not crossed.
4th check the isulation resistance
5th check the wattage of the iron (generally 2400w) which will be on the data plate, then check the element resistance which he will do in ohms, then do ohms law formula to ensure this reading is correct against the data plate.
Also enure the iron switchs off,

Hi is your OH working in Perth at the moment or does he have to do the exam first, not sure if you can work supervised until the exam has been passed. Also is there a lot of work over there for Electricians once they have their licence my OH is worried about moving over there and not being able to get work. Thanks for any help.

its the only way financially and for the sheer speed at which you`ll get your licence sorted

hey there we are not quite as far along as you, but wandering if you can tell you what your hubby was tested on in vetassess - trying to get as muchinfo as poss so we are all prepared, could you please list as much info as he remembers that he was tested on

he is working yes, he got a job as soon as we got here its slightly less and hour until he gets his license, ther is loads of work for electricians.
