Fire alarm engineer, should he go for TRA
Hi
my husband is a fire alarm engineer/technician but this is not on the list
we wondered if he could go under Electronic instrument tradesperson (special class ) 4314-13 this is the closest we can find to my husbands skills, he does work with electric as well but this is not high voltage and he has only got on the job training in the fire alarm industry but has taken a few (5) courses and is also taking another 2 courses in the nxt 2 mths 1 of which is the BFTSA part 1 or also known as IFA course part1 the thing is he is wondering if he is capable of doing the TRA in this skill , he has been a fire alarm engineer for 6 years, but is this enough and what would be the advantage to him taking the TRA , would we be able to go for a 175 or 176 on a TRA pass or would we still have to go on a 457
any help greatfully appreciated
kind regards
michell

Hi Michell
Your question is a bit specialist for me to answer, can I suggest you speak to an agent called Glenn Newton. He was the director of the TRA and is really good, he will tell you if you have any chance at all. George Lombard is really good as well.
If you get a skills assessment, then you would be able to apply for whichever visa you like providing you meet all the criteria for that visa.
Glenn's website is: http://www.australianmigrationsolutions.com/aboutus.htm
You can contact George through this site here: http://britishexpats.com/forum/member.php?u=8124
Good luck and hopefully someone else will be able to help a bit more than me
