Electrician or Retrain
Hi,
I am looking into moving to oz. I am currently a time served electrician with 10 years experience. I am looking at booking my vetasses assessment soon to get my ostr but after reading all these comments about how difficult it is to get a licence I am thinking about maybe doing a few short courses to work in a different role when i get there. (preferably Electrical) is there any recommendations what type of job role a electrician could easily transfer his skills to?? which jobs are plentiful in oz?? was thinking telecoms but cant see many jobs on seek.com.
Auto Electician looks good but cant find any courses.
I dont think I could earn enough money to survive while doing my gap training as I have a young family. so just looking at other options.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Anything you retrain as is would be pointless as you would just have to get licensed over here in Australia again. They love a ticket here!

Thanks for the reply!!
I dont mind paying for tickets, thats totally understandable if moving to a different country.
I am really going to struggle bringing in the funds for a year while I complete my log book as will be on trainees wages and the cost of living is higher.
I havn't got a great deal of savings or even equity in my house so I am going to have to knock this emigrating thing on the head for 5 or 6 years of which by then Electricians might not be in demand.

NSW you can get a job unlicenced as in theory you will be working a with licenced sparkies.
