electrician in australia

hello my name is paul Im 26 years old and training to become an electrician in the uk, the course im studying is city and guilds 2330 level 2, im planning to go on to level 3 which would take me another year. I desperately want to go to oz and was wondering if i was wasting my time with the uk level 3 qualification seeing as you have to refresh your qualifications once in australia anyway.Do i have to do my level 3 studies here in the uk or can i go to australia and finish my studies there? also do you have to prove that you have worked in the trade for a certain amount of time ?

Hi Buddy,
It has to be level 3 to be equivilent to the A.Q.F. unless you have and can prove 7 yrs experience working unsupervised. By prove I mean references and the likes of J.I.B. membership or N.I.C.E.I.C. You can't finish your studies in Australia as Electrical courses aren't on the list for a student visa. Also on a student visa your restricted to working 20 hrs a week. I think you'd be best to get your N.V.Q.3. I think you also need a year qualified after you get 'the card' Hope this helps.:thumbsup:Davy:thumbsup:
