Denied due to shortened apprenticeship
Hi guys,
(Forgot this wasn't the general Australia forum--all the following refer to OZ )
My husband is a certified electrician from Switzerland. Before he started his apprenticeship he attended university for electrical engineering and passed the first stage towards a full degree. However, he decided to quit and instead become a certified electrician.
Because of his 2 years of university studies, he was given a 21 month advancement on his apprenticeship, ie the basics were waved based on his uni. This apparently is a problem for TRA.
He already applied and was denied recognition for his certification based on his shortened apprenticeship from TRA (oh, and that he didn't fulfill all the requirements for being a boilermaker!?!?! The letter was appallingly unprofessional)
Have any of you had a similar situation as well? What did you do? Is there any hope?
Just some other basic information. We're already in Australia with PRs because my husband did finally finish his uni degree in electrical engineering after getting his electrician certification. He just wants to get it recognized so he has a possible backup in this economic climate.
Cheers all!
