I have just finished the A grade course and have to say apart from the Star Delta Starting which stressed most of us on the course,it was pretty straightforward if you are a half decent spark.
The course content was direct on line and star delta starting,wiring radial circuits to sockets,supplies to a cooker and hot water outlets,a mixed circuit of a socket and light and 2 way lighting.Make sure you brush up on your testing and fault finding as they put faults on wiring and expect you to find them.There is also testing and fault finding on appliances such as a motor,a step down transformer,an iron and toaster.
There are lots of assessments such as safe isolation and tagging,first aid and CPR as well as 2 exams which are fairly straightforward if you have listened.
The lecturers are excellant and really help you as much as they can, ie there were 2 electricians that were lift engineers and were not up to speed on installs but the lecturers gave them extra practical installs to get through the assessment,if they were in the UK they would have been cut adrift and left to fail.

The course is $970 bucks unless you have a permanent residance visa which entitles you to a state subsidy from western australia of $800 bucks.The course is run over 2x 40 weeks starting at 8am till 4 30pm monday to friday.
I had to wait 2 months to get on the course but you can get on earlier if they have a cancellation.On the website it says you need to have Electrotechnology practices and Electrical trade principles by Jeffrey Hampson but we never even opened the Electric trade principles book so that was a waste of $85 bucks.
