Default Can some one give me some ARTC help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,
Anyone willing to help me out with my ARTC form? I'd really appreciate it if another spark could help me.I keep reading the threads but i'm still a bit confussed. I've got the form, but it looks a nightmare:

Can i apply from UK?
I'm on a working holiday visa, can i still apply? (i've got potential sponsor when i arrive)
Contacted the organisation who organised my apprenticeship and they have no record of me because they have a new system of records that dont go back to 1995 when i did mine. Not being able to prove my apprenticeship going to be a problem?
3 of my former employers no longer exist, and one wouldn't pi55 on me if I was on fire (we fell out a bit!) so can't get references from them, also worked for a few agencies over the years.

Am i stuffed?

cheers jamie

p.s. I heard from july first you can your c&g quals converted to oz equivilants in UK , is it true?

thanks for any help

You can apply form the UK, but they will only issue your certificate to an Australian address. It will be very difficult for you without your training certificates, is there anyone there that remebers you? Maybe they could write you a reference?

I'm not sure about applying for an ARTC with a WHV, you'd be best ringing the TRA and asking the question. I know you need to send them a certified copy of your visa.

You'll have to do stat decs for any employers that you can't get a reference from, again is it possible to get in contact with former supervisors or managers and get them to do you a reference?

The new assessments aren't going to give you a suitable certificate to enable you to get a licence, you will still have to do the courses out here. They are also going to be a lot harder, as they will be assessed by VETASSES and they will cost a lot more money. I'd apply now if I was you (if you can). The new assessments start on September 1st

The training provider is a national government company, so you never actually meet anyone from them. Do you think a statement from my employer as an apprentice will safice? Havn't worked there for 10 years so could be difficult!

That's what we sent and they didn't question it or ask for anything else

If the training provider was a national goverment body, you would of gained regonised certificates, check the certificate numbers and contact the relavant organisation, give them your certificate number and they should be able to provide a letter stating that you completed an approved course as a Electician.

Jamiwfrod, City & Guilds will be able to provide all the sylabus information and a detailed overview of your electrical course which should be ok for TRA.

Contacted city and guilds and the good news is they do a complete sylabus breakdown for each c&g certificate, and according to the guy i spoke to the ARTC and TRA find this really useful in judging your abilities.

Bad news its £38 per cert, of which i have 6!

Every silver lining seems to have a great big cloud at the moment. God damn you ARTC !!!!!!!! lol

What the ARTC are looking for is some form of practical training to back up any paper qualification, the paper qualifications are checked by the Energy Safety, so you can either produce forms for indentured apprenticeship or produce a concise written descritption of your formal training (hands on as well as college certs) and get your employers references to include details of this training.

You can't apply for an ARTC on a WHV. This is the link to the Queensland site

My advice would be to contact John Nye from AMSAS, who is a skills assessment specialist. He's away this week on holiday.
If you PM me I will give you his number
