British electrician in Barcelona or around
 
Hi,
British electrician, very small knowledge of spanish language, is it possible to find work in Barcelona or around? Thank you :)

Spanish electrics are totally different from UK electrics, and you would have to retrain I'm afraid. Also given the extreme unemployment amongst native Spanish people at the moment I suspect that, without being fluent in Spanish you chances of finding employment are extremely poor.

Ok, thank you. I thought there were British companies in Spain employing British people. (maybe its not the case anymore). Were you in Spain too? I see you are back in the UK. Any idea where to go if we want a bit of sun? (-:

If you are needing to work then I can only suggest that you stay in the UK or look, if you have the qualifications. for places such as Australia or New Zealns or Canada. The whole of Spain is an unemployment black spot, and hundreds of thousands of native, Spanish qualified people are looking for jobs. Remember also that there is no benefits safety net if you should be out of work, and also, unless you are on a legal contract there is no free health service without being self employed and paying your own autonomo.
