A big YESSS....and a big THANKS

Well folks, finally got my unrestricted SA license through the post today and in hand! :-D.

(Passed the exam on peer last friday but didn't want to temp fate till i had the bloody card in my hand and seen it with my own eyes!) :-D

I'd just like to say a big thanks to the people who helped me with invaluable advice. When I joined this site I had no ARTC and no real understanding of the licensing system. What a difference in a few months.

Here's the roll of honour

Steve O
Wendy
The Pom From Aus
Hugh Morris
Leeob77

Thanks to all the above and to anyone I've forgotten!.

Good luck to anyone else currently chasing their license

Errmmm...

I did 90pc of it from the UK

I applied for my ARTC roundabout October and that took almost a month.
Did nothing after that for the month December.
Phoned PEER at new year. Spent January doing aussie wiring regs distance learning.
Flew to Aus on the 26th of January, Sat exam 29/30th of January
Received my license on the 7th of February and have had a bit of holiday since then.
Flying back to UK tomorrow!.

Just need this blimming house to sell now and I'm good to go for good!.

It's actually been extremely straight forward now that I look back at it. However at the time it didn't feel that way!.

I would definitley recommend the PEER route to anyone who is eligible for it, they are good friendly people who do their best to get you through the exam. Even the folks at OCBA (where you apply for license) are friendly and helpful and are well prepared.

A couple of pointers to anyone thinking of going down this route...

1. An Australian friend whose address you can use is pretty much essential

2. If you do the PEER course by distance, you DO have to study, it's not extremely difficult BUT there are things in the exam that are done fundamentally different from the UK and if you don't study you will fail...

Again thanks all for the help/advice in the last few months
