Re: ARTC application from UK
for a full list i need to know which state your going to
but where ever you go you will need
all the following which have the prefix as:nzs
3000:2000 wiring regs
3008: selection of cables
3017 testing and inspection
3018 domestic installations
all available via sai-global as pdf files
also get a copy of electrical wiring practise volume 2 6th edition by keith petherbridge and ian neeson
the apprentices use these books ( volume one is really basic and not required inless you a complete dummy ) and they have some good examples of VD and Max Demand equations
regards steve

wendy its arthur here from melbourne, in one of your other post im sure you mentioned that sparks can do the A class license in the UK from the start of july 2007, is this correct and do you know if its the full course or a cut down version im only asking wendy due to the disappointments that people have when they arrive here with the licensing crap, if they can gain full license thats god for them mind you though, they would need help when they are working on any switchboards to gain knowledge & confidence when connecting on the MEN system.

Hi Arthur, how are you?
I'm still not sure about this yet. From what the TRA newsletters say it should be that you can do the wiring rules course in the UK and the ARTC certificate should be issued with the pre-migration assessment, but that's only how I've interpreted it.
We won't know for sure until they issue the new newsletters. Hopefully that will be soon.

Hello wendy, thanks for the email i can see problems on the arisen for the future if people only have to do the wiring rules in the UK, what will they then do say in victoria when they have to then do the prac exam & the visual defects & the testing of installations & the disconnect reconnect it may be very confusing for the poor sods when they get here.

Well all we can do just now is wait and see what news the TRA bring.
Hopefully the tests in the UK will cover every states requirements. I do know that there has been talk of all the states having one licencing requirement, and that there could be the introduction of a 'interstate' licence. Lets hope that comes off eh?

Re: ARTC application from UK
Hi Wendy, been reading this thread with interest as we will be arriving in Adelaide in September and about to apply for the ARTC from UK. I think I read in a previous thread that the TRA will hold your certificate for you as we don't have an address to have it sent to. We have already validated our visa back in November 2006 so what date would we put for entry?
Thanks in advance,
Kas
