hi all ,going down the 176 sponsered visa route, this is being sponsered by the state of victoria.as i will have to agree to live and work in victoria for two years to meet visa requirements.could i still fly off to Adelaide and sit their wiring reg exam to get my "a class" instead of sitting in victoria.or would this not be allowed due to visa restrictions?

Yep, you can still do the Peer course and transer your licence through the mutual recognition scheme

That visa doesn't necessarily restrict where you live either. If you can't get work in the sponsoring state then as far as I know you can move - it's more of a moral obligation than a legal one. Unless they have changed it since I last looked ( I know they were thinking of doing that).

If you can't get work then they can't expect you to stay there can they? especially since you can't apply for any state benefits except the child tax ones. I know my friends had to move from SA to QLD because of work, and they were on the STNI visa - which is what the 176 used to be called before.
