Neil,

You start up on your own. It will take a while to establish yourself, but I think it would be worth it.

It would be great to employ a tiler that actually turns up on the right day at the right time and do a good job!

If you advertised yourself as a ex pat, with so many years experience, and that you will turn up on the right day at the right time, then I'm sure you would get some business.

I have no idea what the going rate is. But I'd be willing to pay for a job that would be well done and on time.

For agruements sake, if I needed work to be done (which I don't cos its all done now!)........ I'd be looking at re-tiling. Although a lot of people are buying new houses where the tiling is already done, there are some who prefer to buy "second hand" houses, re-tiling where the tiles aren't to there taste. Remember that 95% of houses here have fully tiled floors with the bathrooms fully tiled on floor and walls. There is a market, but then again there are a lot of tilers.

Reliable ones though are a dying breed!

Our bathroom needed some finishing touches. The tiler assigned to the job, turned up on day for a look and didn't come back for three weeks. He then send someone else to do it and it was a disaster. Did it ourselves in the end.
