It could be globe trotting. I'd like to try that if I had the spare cash.

If you are young and single, going to another country for an adventure and hoping to find work in that country is good character building. Look at all the backpackers travelling around, picking up odd jobs here and there. We even heard of Australian backpackers working in canning factories in Iceland, years ago, for a few months, just to earn money to travel on to the USA.
There are jobs in Cyprus. Translations, International Corporate Law, International Banking, Shipping etc. These jobs require diplomas, experience and a good knowledge of not only English, but some other languages too, greek for example.
British Expats coming to Cyprus looking for work without having done any research beforehand, are if for a really tough time. Being single, you may just hack it, but with a partner and children, forget it.
With recent developments, there will be many people chasing the vacancies. First in line, from non Cypriots, will be the Greeks from Greece. They are coming to Cyprus in their hoards. They can speak the language, know the way of life, and are willing to work for low wages. They are even taking the jobs from Cypriots.
Then there are all the other nationalities chasing the manual jobs.
Coming to Cyprus at this present time without a good diploma, experience, speak some languages and have a great CV, is just a waste of time, sorry.

Jessy I don't think this person was even in Cyprus judging by posts in other country forums. They look to me to be a troll just here to cause controversy.

update - turned out there were LOTS of warehouses and logistical jobs. But they weren't advertised online and the companies were mainly international companies. So we just found all the warehouses on google earth and my husband visited them with his CV. So the good news is he got a job. I've been working as a copywriter for a company in the capital and they let me work from home which is great as I get to spend plenty of time with my baby.

because, although I'm happy here, my husband and teenager are not, and if we move we have to do so before teenager starts A-Levels, so I'm looking at all the options. One of them being that teenager boards during the week at the school he loved in the UK and commutes to France at weekends.

Time flies I suppose, but so do pigs, I'm told.

actually time has crawled since we've been here. It moves much faster in the UK. We had been planning for my teenager to homestudy (homeschooling for those old enough to lead their own study) like he successfully did for many years in the past. But he's not willing to now as he's having trouble finding other teenagers here. As for the A Levels creeping up suddenly - I don't know what gave you that idea. We have been watching them on the horizon for some time and have the savings for an international school. Like I said though, I don't want to enroll him and pay £7000 up front if he's not happy here. Now if you could quit your spiteful, useless, inane comments and remember that this forum is for the purpose of helping and advising others, not challenging them.
