Oh, OK .... I was just wondering as its well documented about kids in schools over there .... Do you see any evidence of the fighter planes taking off there at the moment?

I am not in Cyprus, but my girlfriend is, but she is not going anywhere near the bases, as it is all a bit sensitive around there. We do see some movement in the skies above us from our apartment. Used to love watching the Red Arrows practicing over the sea.

They must have moved the runway or something
When my husband was stationed at Akrotiri and we lived in Limassol, (the Akrotiri side) we never heard or saw the aircraft taking off or landing at Akkers.

Yes it does get confusing sometimes, based in Limassol most of the time, but also travel frquently to the UK and The Netherlands for business.
Getting the reports from my girlfriend.

Not a lot of obvious activity from the bases - I go to and fro twice a week due to kids involvements down there - doesn't appear to be any additional security. The Red Arrows are here just now and can be seen practicing twice a day - a great sight. Well worth watching.

Yes, they are nice to watch. We saw them last year, but i seem to remember some people were not happy with their practicing, can't place the complaint at the moment.

It was because of the crash where a pilot died. The Mayor said he didn't think it was safe to have a display here.

I think it's cos they are jealous of the Red Arrows awesomeness

Jobs of any sort are in short supply but as smaller developers are now using a lot of natural cut stone to decorate the houses they build maybe that would be a possible avenue for looking for a job.

There are many houses being built in the villages using stone, so you could try visiting a few villages and promote yourself.
We visit many villages outside Limassol on the way to Troodos and see a lot of stone building work there.
