Default paphos wedding

Hi,
Wondering if someone could give me a few pointers please?
My daughter & her boyfriend are planning on getting married in Paphos next jan 2012. we are going over as a family for new year and 1st week in Jan, my questions are;
1. What can we expect from the weather, would an outside/beach wedding be feasible at that time of year or would we be better in the Town hall or a Church? 2. We are booking all inc with thomson, has anyone heard what their wedding package is like?
3. would we be better contacting an individual company in Cyprus who specialise in weddings?
Thanks for any help

jean

Hi there,
I'd happily recommend Paula +357 99100869 she runs cyprus wedding belles.
Very organised and passionate about what she does.

Problem with package operator deals is your subject to only the offerings/packages that they can sell you.

As Paula is independent you're free to have the day how you want it to be!

No - i'm not related - just aware of her work!

Hi, butting in from the France forum, there's a French weather forecast website that gives the weather in the whole of Europe. At the present time, the temperature average in Cyprus is 15-16°C, with a variety of sunny with cloud, cloudy with sun, cloud, rain. This should give you an idea of what the weather will be like next January! No one can guarantee sunny days, but at least it will be mild...
Hope this helps, and hopefully some one in Cyprus can tell you whether the Arctic cold and snow that the rest of Europe "enjoyed" a few weeks ago, reached the island!

Thanks, I have looked at some weather sites, however it would have been nice to get some input from people who live there, as the sites are not always accurate. I have a house in Spain and I know that in the daytime if it's sunny it can reach 20 degrees for a few hours but weather sites don't tell you that. I am worried that 2 weeks in an area that the weather is known to not be brill at that time of year would feel like a long time, having never been to Cyprus at that time of year I don't know what to expect .

I can report that this week has been pleasant for Jan. Met someone just over for the week from the Uk and they were very warm.
Monday it did absolutely throw it down. I drove from Paphos to Larnaca and back. Rain started 5 miles outside of Paphos, and it was still raining when i got back into Coral Bay about 5 hrs later

TBH if I was planning a wedding abroad january in Cyprus wouldn't be my ideal time or place. It could be fine, but it could also be very cold and very wet. If you want guaranteed sunshine and warnth at that time of year I would go eslewhere.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know, you see the brochures don't tell you that

Hey desert Mum, apparently Cyprus is one of the easier abroad places to get married and there will be a very young baby going ( due in June ) so don't want somewhere too abroad, if you get what I mean If we were to go early Nov do you think that would be a better choice weather wise? Thanks for any help

Hi, this year summer stayed late, and November was beautiful. I think you'd be safer with regards to rain - much less likely to get caught with rain in November.

We are almost floating away today after a torrential storm - still raining with no signs of stopping!

Hi...Did your daughter find a wedding package in Paphos? ....I got married in paphos late 2009..I would deffinitely reccomend that you book the holiday and wedding package seperate. We booked a 2 week stay in Paphos with Thomson holidays and booked a fantastic wedding package through a Paphos based wedding company called cyprus dream weddings. Their wedding packages are fantastic and their service is outstanding. We were initially nervious about doing this but I'm glad we did now, it was perfect, they took all the stress out of having to worry about the planning as they did everything. ..Prior to flying out to cyprus we viewed their website, called and spoke with them lots of times and they were great. They even did a stall at a wedding exhibition in london so we got to meet them in person which was really informative and put our mind at ease....when w got to cyprus they came to our hotel and took usto the town hall and to the chosen venues beforehand and explained everything. We married in the stunning st georges chapel. It was amazing. Please before you book anything, take a look at their website you wil be surprised at their wedding packages, much better than what the travel agents offer by far....You are also welcome to contact me personally if you would like any further info...good luck to your daughter and fiance...

The economy in Cyprus is not too good at the moment, would also suggest not to part with any money if possible until you are really sure and try to do it nearer the time of the event. The people you wish to use, may not be there later.
